Why the Galaxy S24 Is Still Worth Buying Refurbished in 2026
Seven Years of Software Updates
Perhaps the single biggest reason to choose the Galaxy S24 over older Samsung flagships is its software longevity. Samsung committed to seven years of both Android OS upgrades and monthly security patches for the S24 series, meaning the phone will receive updates until at least 2031. For a refurbished phone buyer in 2026, that's still five years of guaranteed software support โ far more than most rivals offer even at launch. Your refurbished S24 won't feel outdated next year.
Galaxy AI โ Genuinely Useful, Not Just a Gimmick
The Galaxy S24 introduced Samsung's Galaxy AI suite, and while AI features can often feel superficial, several of the S24's tools earn their place in daily use:
- Live Translate โ translates phone calls in real time without needing a third-party app
- Chat Assist โ rewrites messages in different tones directly within your keyboard
- Circle to Search โ circle anything on screen to instantly search Google, without switching apps
- Generative Edit โ intelligently removes unwanted objects from photos and fills in the background
- Note Assist โ automatically summarises and formats long notes in Samsung Notes
- Transcript Assist โ transcribes and summarises voice recordings with one tap
These features are available on the refurbished S24 and have continued to improve through software updates, making the phone meaningfully smarter than it was at launch.
A Camera System That Still Competes
The triple-camera array on the Galaxy S24 holds up well in 2026. The 50MP main sensor handles excellent detail in daylight, the 12MP ultrawide captures wide scenes cleanly, and the 3x telephoto gives you genuine zoom flexibility without the digital mush you get from cropping. Samsung's Nightography processing keeps low-light shots bright and natural-looking, and the 12MP selfie camera produces sharp, flattering portraits. Unless you're a professional photographer chasing the absolute bleeding edge, the S24's camera system will not disappoint.
Compact Flagship Form Factor
At 147mm tall and 167g, the S24 is genuinely pocket-friendly โ a rarity among 2024 and later flagship phones that have generally grown larger. If you find the Galaxy S24 Ultra or S25 uncomfortably large, the S24's form factor is a serious advantage, not a compromise.
What to Look for When Buying a Refurbished Samsung Galaxy S24 UK
Understanding Refurbishment Grades
Not all refurbished phones are equal. At refurb-phone.com, we use a clear grading system so you know exactly what you're getting:
- Grade A (Pristine) โ near-flawless cosmetic condition, often indistinguishable from new. Ideal if appearance matters most.
- Grade B (Good) โ minor light scratches visible under close inspection, fully functional. Best value for money.
- Grade C (Fair) โ visible scuffs or scratches, but fully operational. Best for buyers on a tight budget who prioritise function over form.
For most buyers, Grade B represents the sweet spot โ noticeable savings versus Grade A with no impact on performance.
Check Battery Health
Battery degradation is the most common concern with refurbished phones. On a Galaxy S24, the original 4,000mAh cell should still deliver comfortable all-day use at 85% health or above. At refurb-phone.com, we test battery health on every handset and display the result before you buy. We'd recommend a minimum of 85% โ below that, you may find yourself reaching for the charger mid-afternoon.
Warranty and Returns
Always buy from a seller who provides a genuine warranty. Refurbished phones from refurb-phone.com come with a 12-month warranty and a returns policy โ so if anything goes wrong, you're covered. Be wary of private listings on marketplaces that offer no protection.
Refurbished Samsung Galaxy S24 UK Pricing Guide (2026)

|---|---|---|
| Grade A | ยฃ280โยฃ320 | ยฃ310โยฃ360 |
| Grade B | ยฃ240โยฃ280 | ยฃ270โยฃ320 |

Galaxy S24 vs S24+ vs S24 Ultra: Which Refurbished Model Should You Buy?
If you're torn between the three S24 variants, here's a quick breakdown:
| Model | Display | Battery | Key Difference | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S24 | 6.2" | 4,000mAh | Most compact and affordable | One-handed use, budget-conscious buyers |
| S24+ | 6.7" | 4,900mAh | Bigger screen and battery, same cameras | Media consumption, longer battery life |
| S24 Ultra | 6.8" | 5,000mAh | 200MP camera, built-in S Pen, titanium frame | Power users, photographers, note-takers |
The base Galaxy S24 is the right choice if you want a compact, capable flagship that won't stretch your budget. The cameras are identical in quality to the S24+, and for most daily tasks โ social media, messaging, calls, streaming โ there is no meaningful difference in performance.
Who Should Buy a Refurbished Galaxy S24 in 2026?
The refurbished Samsung Galaxy S24 UK is an excellent choice if you:
- Want a compact flagship without a flagship price tag
- Value software longevity โ five years of updates remaining is excellent for a refurbished phone
- Want Galaxy AI features without paying for a new S25 series handset
- Are switching from an older Samsung or an older iPhone and want a significant performance jump
- Prefer a one-handed phone and find larger handsets uncomfortable
It may not be the right choice if you need the S Pen stylus (that's the Ultra), or if you shoot a lot of video in very low light where the Ultra's larger sensors and superior processing would give you a meaningful edge.
