Design
The Garmin Instinct Crossover Solar is a hybrid GPS smartwatch that combines traditional analog hands with a digital smartwatch display and solar charging capabilities. The watch body measures 45.0 x 45.0 x 16.2 mm and weighs 65 grams, fitted with a fiber-reinforced polymer bezel and case with a 22 mm QuickFit-compatible silicone strap. The physical luminescent analog hands utilize ReVO Drive technology for automatic calibration and shock detection. Navigation is operated via five dedicated physical side buttons. The casing is built to MIL-STD-810 military standards for thermal, shock, and water resistance, featuring a 10 ATM rating (water resistant up to 100 meters).
Display
Features a high-contrast, dual-window monochrome transflective MIP display overlaid by physical analog clock hands that automatically move out of the way when digital data is being viewed. The display is protected by a Power Glass solar charging lens that harvests ambient sunlight to extend battery performance.
Performance
Equipped with a multi-GNSS satellite receiver (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo), a Garmin Elevate optical wrist-based heart rate monitor, a Pulse Ox blood oxygen saturation sensor, a barometric altimeter, a 3-axis electronic compass, a gyroscope, a thermometer, and an accelerometer. Performance and wellness tracking includes VO2 max, HRV status, Training Readiness, Recovery Time, Body Battery energy levels, Advanced Sleep Monitoring, Stress Tracking, and Incident Detection/Assistance. Smart features include Garmin Pay contactless payments, smart notifications, and Connect IQ app customization.
Battery and Ports
Powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery augmented by a Power Glass solar array. In smartwatch mode, battery life reaches up to 28 days on standard battery power and up to 70 days with solar charging (3 hours per day in 50,000 lux conditions). In GPS mode, the battery provides up to 25 hours (up to 31 hours with solar). Max Battery GPS mode yields up to 111 hours with solar, while Saver Watch Mode offers infinite battery life with sufficient solar exposure. Charging is managed via a proprietary Garmin 4-pin cable. Wireless connectivity includes Bluetooth Smart, ANT+, and NFC.
