Design
The Nokia 9 PureView features a premium build consisting of a 6000-series aluminum frame sandwiched between two panels of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Weighing 172 grams with a slim 8mm profile, a notable design aspect is that its unique rear camera array sits completely flush with the glass back, leaving no protruding camera bump. The device holds an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance (up to 1 meter for 30 minutes) and includes an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
Display
The 5.99-inch P-OLED panel delivers a sharp QHD+ resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels at a high density of approximately 538 ppi. The screen uses a traditional 18:9 aspect ratio with symmetrical top and bottom bezels, avoiding notches or hole-punch cutouts. With P-OLED technology and HDR10 certification, the display outputs deep blacks, high contrast ratios, and accurate color reproduction.
Performance
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, the platform is accompanied by a dedicated Light Lux Capacitor ASIC co-processor, required to handle the massive volume of raw camera data simultaneously. Paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, it provides steady performance for daily tasks and high-resolution photo processing. Storage cannot be expanded via a MicroSD card.
Battery and Charging
Energy is supplied by an internal 3320 mAh lithium-ion battery. The device supports 18W Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Power Delivery protocols via its USB-C 3.1 port. In addition, the Nokia 9 PureView comes equipped with 10W Qi wireless charging support.
Camera System and Software
The primary feature of the Nokia 9 PureView is its array of five 12-megapixel ZEISS lenses on the rear (all with f/1.8 apertures and a 28mm equivalent focal length):
-
2 RGB Sensors: Captured for accurate color data.
-
3 Monochrome Sensors: Captured to collect significantly higher levels of light, fine detail, and dynamic contrast.
When the shutter is pressed, all five cameras capture images simultaneously at different exposure levels. The co-processor fuses these images into a single photo featuring an expansive dynamic range (up to 12.4 stops) and a complex depth map with up to 1,200 layers. This allows for precise post-capture refocusing and raw RAW (DNG) editing capabilities. Front-facing capture is handled by a 20MP selfie camera. The phone launched under the Android One program, offering a clean Android 9.0 (Pie) interface.
